Lancaster’s Harvest Market

Following on from the success of LESS’s Midsummer Market in June 2016, Lancaster will soon be hosting another seasonal food market: the Love Local, Love Lancaster Harvest Market.

On the 29th August from 10:00-17:00, Lancaster’s market square will once again be bustling with local  food and drink producers, community food projects, music and keen sewers, as Lancaster BID hosts  Lancaster’s Harvest Market in partnership with LESS.

The market aims to celebrate the bounty of local produce and skills and will bring farmers and small  independent businesses and community projects into the heart of Lancaster.

In addition to stalls selling their wares, BID has organised live music and entertainment and seasonally-  inspired cooking demonstrations.

Victoria from Lancaster’s Sewing Café will also be running skill-share sessions on how to make your  own shopping bag and fix old clothes, and the Growing Our Local Food Economy project will be  handing out a variety of local food resources including harvest-themed recipe cards, seasonal local food  calendars and community food maps.

Confirmed Harvest Market stalls currently include:

  • Magma sauces, who will be selling their delicious and locally made chilli sauces.
  • Rory from The Borough Brewery will be providing samples and selling bottles of locally produced ale.
  • Single Step will showcase their range of ethical whole foods and local food produce.
  • Claver Hill community food project will talk about and sell their ‘no-dig’ veg and chutneys and jams.
  • The sewing café will be running skill share sessions on making your own shopping bag and fixing old clothes- so bring old clothes for mending!
  • The Fig Tree will be talking about and selling its range of locally-made and fairly traded bean-to-bar chocolates.
  • The People’sCafé will be cooking up seasonally-inspired meals on a pay-as –you feel basis.
  • Cockerham Boers will be talking about and selling locally reared goat meat.
  • Billy’s eggs from the Lancaster Charter market will be joining us- offering a range of local and free-range eggs.
  • Cheesy Cheeses will be selling a range of Lancashire made cheeses.
  • A number of town centre businesses (including the Water Witch, Tap House and Bar 1725), will be running stalls- offering tasters and selling their wares.
